How Web Lease quotes work

Pricing scales with how the team actually uses music.

Web Lease quotes are built around four variables. Send these to a sales rep and you'll have a written quote — typically within the same business day.

  1. Variable01

    Music volume

How much music does the team actually license — measured by tracks per month, hours per project, or rough usage volume across the team.

  2. Variable02

    Team size

How many editors, producers, and music supervisors will access the catalog under the lease. Scales the seat side of the quote.

  3. Variable03

    Production volume

How many productions complete during the active lease term. Drives the volume side of the quote.

  4. Variable04

    Audience reach

How many people see the finished productions — distribution scope, channel mix, broadcast and digital reach.

Talk to a sales rep

Quote turnaround is usually the same business day.

Send the four variables above to a sales rep and you'll have a written Web Lease quote — typically within the same business day. For Blanket licensing or per-track Buy-Out questions, the same conversation works.

Pricing FAQ

Common questions before licensing.

How does the Web Lease subscription work?

Web Lease is an annual subscription that gives the team unlimited access to the catalog during the term. Music placed in productions during the active subscription is licensed in perpetuity for those productions — work you ship during the lease is permanently licensed. The lease itself terminates on the expiration date.

What happens when a Web Lease subscription expires?

All productions completed during the active lease remain permanently licensed — the work you shipped is yours forever. Music files must be removed from incomplete projects and from hard drive storage. The license to create new productions using GMP music terminates on the expiration date unless the subscription is renewed.

What is TEMPing? Is it really free?

TEMPing is a no-cost temporary access program for evaluating GMP music in unfinished productions before making a purchasing decision. It's granted only by request and can be denied or rescinded for any reason. The trade-off is the required monthly communication and the agreement to license any music that becomes a confirmed placement. Net 30 invoicing applies on confirmed use.

Can I try music before paying for it?

Yes — that's exactly what TEMPing exists for. Request TEMPing access, place music in unfinished productions, decide which tracks you're keeping, and license those tracks via the appropriate model. Tracks you don't use get removed from your systems.

How much does Web Lease cost?

Web Lease pricing is custom-quoted based on four variables: how much music your team uses, how many editors and producers will access the catalog, how many productions complete during the term, and how many people see the finished work. Send these to a sales rep and you'll typically have a written quote within the same business day.

Can I just buy a single track without a subscription?

Yes. Standard Online Purchase (Buy-Out) covers per-track purchases for single users or single companies. The track is licensed in perpetuity within that scope — unlimited synchronizations, but not shared across departments, divisions, or separate production environments. A school system with eight schools and eight separate media production sites, for example, would require eight licenses.

Who is Blanket Licensing designed for?

Blanket Licensing covers unlimited synchronization within a defined production or episodic agreement — designed for series work, multi-program brand campaigns, and large-scale productions licensing music at the project rather than the per-track level. Negotiated directly with a sales rep.

Is the music royalty-free?

GMP is a licensed production music library. Every track comes with clear documentation and chain of title — the paperwork that broadcast standards, streaming rights teams, and network legal departments accept. One standard license covers nearly every use, so licensing stays clean and simple.

About production music pricing

Production music pricing, explained for working teams.

Production music pricing is one of the most opaque parts of the licensing business. Every library handles it differently, every quote process has different inputs, and the difference between a working subscription and a per-track purchase can be the difference between an annual budget line and a project-by-project line item. GMP Music has been licensing production music since 1986 — long enough that the pricing infrastructure is settled and explainable.

Working teams — agencies, content studios, in-house production departments, podcast networks — typically license music through a Web Lease subscription. Web Lease provides unlimited catalog access for the active term, with the productions completed during the lease licensed in perpetuity. The pricing scales with four variables: how much music the team uses, how many editors and producers access the catalog, how many productions complete during the term, and how many people see the finished work. Quotes typically land within the same business day.

Single-user or single-company productions — a one-off project, a small in-house team, an independent producer — typically license through Standard Online Purchase (Buy-Out) directly in the catalog app. Buy-Out grants unlimited synchronization use within a single user / single company in perpetuity, at a per-track price. The license isn't shared across departments or divisions — for organizations with multiple separate production environments (a school system with eight schools running their own media production, for example), one license is needed per environment.

Production-scale work — series, multi-program brand campaigns, episodic-format programs — typically license through Blanket Licensing, where unlimited synchronization is covered within a defined production or episodic agreement. Blanket licensing is negotiated directly with a sales rep based on the specific scope of the work.

And teams that want to evaluate before they commit license through TEMPing — a no-cost trial program that grants temporary catalog access for placing music in unfinished productions. TEMPing is granted by request and requires monthly use / non-use communication; confirmed placements trigger Net 30 invoicing on the actual licensing model. The point of TEMPing is to give producers and editors the runway to actually evaluate music in context before signing on a license.
