FAQ for education
Common questions
Yes. The standard license covers nearly every use, including classroom media, school broadcasts, digital learning platforms, and published educational video. The only exception is theatrical release, which requires an additional license.
The per-track Buy-Out license covers a single user or single company and is not shared across separate production environments — a school system with eight schools each running their own media production would need eight licenses. For districts and universities producing at volume, an annual Web Lease subscription or blanket licensing usually fits better. Talk to a specialist about which model matches your setup.
Student productions made inside a licensed school media program are covered by the school's license. If a student project goes on to distribute independently — a festival run, a monetized channel — tell us about the project and we'll make sure the paperwork matches.
Nearly every title includes a theme version with all the instrumentation, alternate versions with less instrumentation, and edits at common broadcast lengths of 60, 30, 15, and stingers. Many titles also include versions separated by sections or parts — so the version the lesson needs usually already exists.
GMP is a licensed production music library. Every track comes with clear documentation and chain of title, the paperwork that platforms, publishers, and rights reviews accept. One standard license covers nearly every use, so licensing stays clean and simple.
About licensing music for education
Music that helps the lesson land.
Education runs on media — classroom video, morning announcements, curriculum explainers, admissions films, student broadcasts, and the published learning content that reaches students far beyond one campus. All of it needs music, and all of it needs music that is actually licensed for the job. GMP Music has been licensing production music to schools, universities, and educational publishers since 1986.
The catalog covers the full range education media calls for — clean corporate underscore for instructional video, warm acoustic for student-life storytelling, timeless classical for history and the humanities, calm lo-fi and ambient beds that sit under narration and keep students focused on the material. Nearly every title includes a theme version with full instrumentation, alternate versions with less instrumentation, and edits at common broadcast lengths of 60, 30, and 15 seconds plus stingers, so the version your lesson needs usually already exists.
Licensing is clean and simple. One standard license covers nearly every use, including classroom media, school broadcasts, digital platforms, and published educational video. The only exception is theatrical release, which requires an additional license: contact us with a request for quote and we will respond quickly with a license that meets your requirements. For districts and universities producing media at volume, annual Web Lease subscriptions and blanket licensing are available.
Whether it's the third-grade science explainer, the student-run morning show, or the admissions film that has to carry the whole campus in ninety seconds, we are eager to assist you in your music search — to find just the right track that will represent your vision for your media project.
